Families living on the Holdbrook Estate have been getting together at weekends since January, to plant daffodil and tulip bulbs at the entrance of Holdbrook. The idea for planting bulbs to brighten up the entrance was conceived by residents at the December Holdbrook Residents meeting. The residents of High Grove Court came together again on Saturday 24 January to generate ideas for more planting in the communal garden areas.
Young and old got stuck in with spades and forks to transform the the communal gardens at High Grove Retirement Scheme, bringing colour and the promise of spring to lift the spirits of the residents who live there. Millie, who came with her Mother and Grandmother, was the youngest Green Aider. At four years old, she had a never ending enthusiasm and energy and really enjoyed learning how to plant flowers and bulbs.
Those of you who volunteered as Green Aiders last year, it would be great to see you again!
This Green Aider Programme has been kindly funded by Broxbourne Housing Association, East and North Herts Primary Care Trust and Broxbourne Borough Council.
